Bulletproof

I think I just saw the most bad-ass movie EVVAAA!!!!

I've come to realize that I have a love for assassin movies. The fight scenes, absurd violence... it's all so magical. Especially when it's so fantastical that it's unbelievable that it could happen in real life. It helps me sleep better at night.

There is also a great message to this movie:

Do Something with Your Life.

Sounds simple enough but most people (including myself) need to be reminded. Going about your daily routines, numb to life, is easy enough but is it really best?? Watch the movie and find out.

Wednesday

15 Days

So in the spirit of consistent blogging I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and post replies to daily prompts.

The whole "30 Days of Letters" seems popular enough but I just know I'd run out of ideas/interest after about 5 days. Plus the people you write to overlaps too much so here is something else I jacked from a friend's blog. Yeah it's from tumblr but who says I can't transfer it back onto blogspot?

15 Days

Day 01 - Introduce yourself. List your likes and dislikes.
Day 02 - Make a bulleted list of everything that happened in your day.
Day 03 - Share your favorite quote/song lyric.
Day 04 - Smile! We want to see your teeth today. Post a self-portrait.
Day 05 - Share your favorite recipe.
Day 06 - Time to face morph: Pick one of the categories.
Day 07 - Provide pictures of 5 celebrity crushes.
Day 08 - Create a bucket list, whether or not your aspirations or rational.
Day 09 - Describe your food consumption today.
Day 10 - Share one of your current favorite tunes.
Day 11 - List some of your favorite tumblrs.
Day 12 - Set a goal.
Day 13 - Provide the HEX code(s) of your favorite color(s).
Day 14 - Post a Youtube video that makes you laugh/inspires you.
Day 15 - This is the last day and you are an owl. Place your hands like this over your eyes and take a picture.

Tuesday

Really?!

So I show up to my soc lecture this morning when my TA spots me and says, "You're gangsta!" I gave her a puzzled look and while pointing to myself asked, "Me?"

Turns out that I got a perfect score on my first soc test last Thursday. A perfect score. Who does that?! Now I'm not selling myself short. I thought I did pretty well but right before turning in my test I checked my answers and figured I had missed 3-4. I guess I'm good at guessing. =)

It's weird but I usually thoroughly enjoy and do really well in my humanities classes while I struggle to pay attention and FAIL my science classes. Even with that I still couldn't imagine myself switching over to a humanities major. Masochistic much?

ThankYou

Dear God,

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help someone in need yesterday and for reminding me that first impressions are often wrong.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You see, here I was at the train station in Industry waiting for my mom to pick me up when this older black man pulled up in his mechanical wheelchair. At first I thought, "Oh no. Not a creeper..." but he turned out to be just fine.

He had just missed the train (it left the station as soon as he pulled up) and he now had to take the Foothill bus and a subway back to LA. He was picking up mail from his sister and because of an errand or two that she had to run he was late. He wasn't bitter though. He instead quoted the apostle Paul and referred to the story of Job, saying he was not going to be discouraged or curse God because things didn't turn out exactly as he had planned. As luck would have it as soon as he was about to leave to find the bus stop his sister pulled up.

He had mentioned before that his sister was willing to drive him back. Only problem: How to make his scooter fit in her car. That's where I came in.

With a little patience, a couple hiccups, and some heavy lifting the 3 of us were able to put his chair in the back of her mini-SUV. There was a security guard across the way but instead of driving up and offering to help he just sat in his air-conditioned car and watched as we struggled. What's worse? As soon as we had figured it out and gotten his chair into the car he drove right past us and nodded.

Whatever dude.

Things happen for a reason and if I had just gotten picked up from school or asked my dad rather than my mom to pick me up from the station, I would have missed out on helping these sweet people because God knows the security guard wasn't going to do ish. The feeling I got from it was pure bliss and reminded me how nice it is to do things for others, especially complete strangers.

You really work in mysterious ways.

Tuesday

Why do I even bother to set goals for my schoolwork? I never make them. Never.

I have 9 readings I'm going to be tested on on Thursday (and of course I'm behind) so the plan was to read 3 Monday, 3 Tuesday, and 3 Wednesday. Sounds good enough, right? Well it's now 15 minutes to Wednesday and I JUST finished reading my 3rd article.

Why do I do this to myself?! /sigh

I'm such a bad student. No focus. No drive. No self-discipline. It's probably because I'm so over college it's not even funny. I can't wait to get out of this place. Can't wait!!

2 more years and I'm gone! (well hopefully...)

PushMyButton

You know when you watch standup comedy and there is always that one person who laughs a little too loud? The joke is usually funny but their laughter is borderline (or over the line) obnoxious? Well that's exactly what I'm dealing with in my summer class.

No matter how funny or unfunny the teacher's jokes are this girl laughs and laughs and laughs. At first it entertained the class but now it's just straight-up annoying. What makes it worse is that she makes unnecessary comments (which I'm sure she thinks of as jokes) and LAUGHS AT THOSE TOO! sheesh.

I know the class is laid-back and the teacher wants us to have a good time but your laughter makes everything not fun. Everything.

So please. stfu.

Button pushed.

Diagnosis

I just went to the doctor's office and was told that I have indeed come down with something. It's not deadly and only slightly contagious but if I don't take care of it soon it could turn into something much worse. I have FIADD: Finals Induced Attention Deficit Disorder.

As the title says it strikes before and during finals week. Symptoms are:

  • endless hours of surfing the web
  • texting, calling, IMing, etc. with people at all hours
  • sudden urge to clean or organize
  • scattered thoughts
  • avoiding ALL studying like it's the plague

Luckily my case is only in it's middle stage so it can be remedied. My doctor prescribed frequent doses of reading and end-of-the-chapter exercise problems, timed breaks, no more than 1 hour naps to rejuvenate, and delicious but healthy snacks to keep me energized while I work. It's not going to be easy but my doctor reassured me that a full recovery is just around the bend.
